Former Co-Founder of FeedBurner and Google User Experience Designer Joins BigDoor Team
SEATTLE, WA –March 15, 2011– BigDoor, the free gamification platform that increases user engagement, loyalty and monetization, today announced Matt Shobe has joined the company as chief design officer. Shobe was previously a staff user experience designer at Google and co-founder at FeedBurner, the popular service for blog publishers, podcasters, and commercial producers of syndicated content that was acquired by Google in 2007. Shobe brings 16 years of varied user experience design background to BigDoor’s team.
“We are extremely fortunate to have Matt join our team,” said co-founder and CEO Keith Smith. “His knowledge of design and user experience coupled with his background of working not only at Google but also having successfully navigated several startups will undoubtedly help shape BigDoor as we continue to grow and iterate our product and create a ubiquitous gamification platform.”
“Keith and the team at BigDoor have set a tremendous pace in the gamification market, having scaled a free, open and flexible product very quickly,” said Shobe. “I’m excited to join such a talented, dedicated team and for a chance to focus on both the consumer and content provider features that BigDoor’s platform provides.”
Prior to his work at FeedBurner and Google, Shobe was involved in two other startups, Spyonit and DKA. He also worked in user experience research roles with Accenture and Microsoft before entering the startup world. He also served as a mentor to Seattle’s inaugural TechStars startup accelerator program in 2010. Shobe holds a graduate degree from University of Washington’s Department of Human Centered Design and Engineering.
