How to increase user engagement?
Mike Chace, COO of Blogstand Media, was looking for a way to increase user engagement across all of his ToobNetwork sites. Actions like watching videos, commenting, and sharing were critical to developing a community around the websites and to help generate ad revenue.
Video quests and rewards
Mike reached out to BigDoor and together they developed a series of quests that encouraged users to view videos on a variety of ToobNetwork sites and challenged users to rate and share those videos. When users finished a quest, they earned virtual coins that could be used to buy rewards.
BigDoor’s technical support team worked directly with his developer in Germany over email and Skype. The whole process took about two weeks and in the end Mike had just two snippets of code to put on his site.
The Results
So far, the numbers are looking good. Users who participate in quests are twice as likely to return to the site and twice as likely to perform desirable actions like watching videos, commenting, and sharing on social networks.
The numbers are inspiring and Mike believes they will continue to improve as he adds more quests and rewards. Recently, he’s been developing rewards that are more meaningful to his core audience such as donations to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASCPA).
