Exposing readers to new content

SavannahNow was looking for a better way introduce readers to new content. Many people read the big story on the front page but often missed important content on other parts of the site. Sections like Savannahpedia had a wealth of local information but many readers simply didn’t know it existed.

SavannahNow Rewards

BigDoor and SavannahNow worked together to design a rewards program that guided readers to new sections of the site, encouraged them to view new content, and to answer trivia questions. As readers progressed in the quests, they earned Savannah Bucks that could be used to redeem rewards from local businesses.

From initial conversation to launch, the entire process took about 30 days and it only took one day for the SavannahNow developer to implement the rewards program on the site.

The result

After the registration flow was streamlined, SavannahNow started seeing results. In the first three months, over 2,900 readers had registered with the rewards program. Using the quests, readers were now exploring sections of the site they had previously ignored. Registered readers were twice as likely to return to the site within the month and were three times as likely to perform actions like watching videos and sharing content.

SavannahNow Rewards has been running on the website for over six months now and SavannahNow is continuing to update the quests and rewards. In the future, they have plans to implement sponsored quests as a new way to generate ad revenue.
